Kamen Rider Kiva

Kamen Rider Kiva is the primary protagonist and eponymous character of the Kamen Rider Kiva Series, which plays in Kiva's connections to the Fangire King. Kiva is a title passed down through generations in the Royal Fangire family from parent to child. Kiva has multiple forms that provide him with different weapons and abilities, mostly all invoked by inserting Fuestles into Kivat's mouth. Kiva's motif is that of a vampire, with his final attacks inherited from Maya.

However, unlike the Fangire King, Wataru's nature as a human-fangire hybrid initially left him unable to fully utilize Kiva's full power with the Catena Chains serving as restraints. His fighting power may also slightly depend on Kivat-bat the 3rd's condition as shown when Kivat caught a cold.

Wataru later on becomes able to use the full power of Kiva through Tatsulot and sheer willpower. Additionally, Zanbat serves as a restraint to keep the power of the Zanvat Sword from taking complete control of Wataru. It seems that his body later on becomes more adept to the power of Kiva as the series progresses to the point where Taiga hinted that he can now even use Dark Kiva itself. If this were the case, this may mean Wataru can currently transform into DoGaBaKi Form (as well as presumably DoGaBaKi Emperor Form) without suffering the drawbacks of its amount of demonic power.

History

Twenty-two years after the disappearance of his father, Wataru Kurenai lives in an infamous "haunted house" where he is destined as Kamen Rider Kiva to fight life-draining monsters called Fangires, the very race his father fought years ago before his disappearance. Wataru must also deal with Kamen Rider Ixa who is part of an organization seeking to destroy the Fangire menace, as well as the Fangires' own Rider, Kamen Rider Saga. The story is split between the actions of Wataru in the present (2008–09) and his father Otoya in the past (1986–87), slowly revealing the link between the Fangire Race and Kiva.

Castle Doran

Castle Doran is Kiva's base of operations which is of the Wyvern-like Doran Race. Though originally called the Great Wyvern, the Fangires captured it and bonded it to the mold of a castle so it would serve as the base of the Checkmate Four. Wataru eventually became its master through Kivat from his mother Maya. While dormant, it assumes the form of a tall building to conceal itself in plain sight, invisible to ordinary people.

Residence:
- Kivat-bat the 3rd : Is the 3rd generation of the Kivat-bat Family, distinguished among the Kivat Race, possessing two heirlooms, the green Demon Imperial Stone on the forehead and the Kivat Persona on the face. Called "Kivat" for short, he is a solid character with dry wit, tending to have a bitter attitude
- Jiro / Garulu : Is the human form of the violent and impulsive Garulu, the last surviving member of the werewolf-like Wolfen Race that were decimated by Rook in one of his Time Plays. Like those of his kind, Garulu has heightened senses and uses his claws to rip out human souls from their bodies before eating them.
- Ramon / Basshaa : Is the human form of the cheerful Basshaa, the 127-year old survivor of the gill-man-like Merman Race. He has a cool yet childish attitude and is able to assume his true form by spinning then snapping his fingers. He can shoot pressurized water bubbles from his mouth and his pupils turn into cross-hairs to increase his aim.
- Riki / Dogga : Is the human form of the silent Dogga, the last surviving member of the Frankenstein's monster-like Franken Race. He has unbeatable strength and feeds by grabbing a person and draining the soul out in the form of electrical discharges. He acts as Castle Doran's butler, assuming his true form by pounding his fists together.
- Tatsulot / Demon Imperial Dragon Tatsulot : Is a small golden dragon known as the Goldy Wyvern and allows Kiva to become Emperor Form. Tatsulot was resting inside the ceiling of Castle Doran until Wataru's rage from the harm coming to Mio awakens him. After his initial appearance, Tatsulot would go on to live in Wataru's house. Sometimes appearing without being summoned by the Tatsulot Fuestle.
- Kivat-bat the 2nd : Is the 2nd generation of the Kivat-bat Family, and Kivat's father. As the King's partner, he infuses him with the power of Kiva. However, unlike his son, Kivat-bat the 2nd controls a lot more Demonic Power that enables Dark Kiva to fight at his utmost limit.

Riders

Wataru Kurenai / Kamen Rider Kiva : Is a half-fangire shy young man who never lies, keeping to himself due to his hygiene obsession and belief that he was "allergic to the world." He works at an atelier to continue his father's legacy of violin making with a dream to create the ultimate violin, using strange methods to accomplish it.

Keisuke Nago / Kamen Rider Ixa : Is an elite member of the Fangire Hunters, working as a bounty hunter by capturing criminals and taking a button from them as a memento.

Otoya Kurenai / Kamen Rider Proto Ixa : Is Wataru's father who battles the Fangire menace in 1986, his ideology that "All humans are music" his reason of fighting Fangires was to protect that music.

Taiga Nobori / Kamen Rider Saga : Is Maya's first-born son, fathered by the Checkmate Four's original King, and current King of the Checkmate Four. He had met Wataru in their childhood, and the two became good friends.

King / Kamen Rider Dark Kiva : Of the Checkmate Four is referred to as the first Dark Kiva, the lord of all Fangires and the original Kiva who was a threat to humanity in his time.

Masao Kurenai Kamen Rider New Kiva : Is the son of Wataru Kurenai, resembling Otoya Kurenai. Coming from 2031, 22 years in the future, he comes back in time to ask his father's help to fight the Neo-Fangire menace that are making their way into the present.

Takato Shiramine / Kamen Rider Rey : Is an aloof loner of the '3WA and also Nago's rival. The 3WA researched the Demon Races, and developed the Rey System from researching Kiva.

Takashi Sugimura / Kamen Rider Arc : Was a powerful leader of the Legendorga who led his race to glory, attacking any race that stood in his way. However the original Kiva stood against Arc and defeated him.

Fangire

Fangires are stained glass-based vampires who feed off of the Life Energy of humans to survive, with which they can disguise themselves as humans. Because of this, aware humans have formed a group to hunt the Fangires. Though Kiva usually captures a Fangire's soul to feed to Castle Doran, Fangires can be completely destroyed when shattered as seen by Ixa and stronger Fangires.

World Of Kiva

Wataru's role in Kamen Rider Decade is mostly as an observer, along with Kamen Rider Blade's Kazuma Kenzaki. Wataru appears before Tsukasa Kadoya as a representative of the Kamen Riders, explaining to him that something is forcibly merging the parallel worlds of the Kamen Riders and causing their destruction. The Riders give Tsukasa the task of traveling the worlds and saving them as Kamen Rider Decade, while they prevent the destruction of Natsumi Hikari's world by freezing it in time.
